Returning Coaches

Coaches who have gone through training previously, you can log into The Locker and verify your coaching training and records ensure they are still current and valid.

Coach Training

Swift Current Rampage Lacrosse is always looking for more Coaches right from our U7 up to Junior B!

There is a Coaching level for everyone! Being a Coach gives you a rewarding opportunity to positively impact a player’s life while enjoying the Fast Game on Two Feet! 

SLA highly encourages you to complete as many courses as possible within your first year of coaching.

E-learning: Once you have completed a module, you DO NOT have to repeat it again to coach another age group. For example, if you complete "Rule of Two" at the U9, you do not have to do it again at U11.

Every coach, regardless of what age coaching, MUST complete the following:

For the following courses, you will need to login to The Locker and go into E-learning and find the course.

  • Initiation in Sport Course
  • Rule of Two
  • Emergency Action Plan
  • Making Ethical Decision
  • Making Headway

Year 1

  • Initiation in Sport Course

Year 2 

  • Emergency Action Plan
  • Rule of Two

Year 3

  • Making Ethical Decisions

U11 & U13

Year 1

  • Completed CMD Course
  • Rule of Two
  • Making Headway

Year 2 

  • Making Ethical Decisions
  • Emergency Action Plan

U15 & UP 

Year 1

  • Completed CPI Course
  • Rule of Two
  • Making Headway

Year 2 

  • Making Ethical Decisions
  • Emergency Action Plan

Year 3

  • In-person Evaluation

 


 Professional Development Points

After you are CPI certified, to keep you up to date with developmental coaching. You must maintain 20 performance points in your Locker in 5-year cycle. These points can range from courses, self-evaluation reports, to coaching related other courses.

  

 


 Team Manager Requirements

Managers are not permitted on the bench and MUST NOT coach at all!

All managers must have a Criminal Record Check.


Trainer Requirements

Trainers:
Any personnel that is on the bench for a trainer position must meet one of the below qualifications and is NOT permitted to Coach, unless listed as a Coach and has proper certifications:

  • Any St. John’s Ambulance Emergency First Aid Course of 8 Hours (or more)
  • Canadian Red Cross Standard First Aid & Basic Rescuer CPR Course.
  • Canadian Red Cross Sport First Aid Course
  • Any CAHA Hockey Trainer’s Certification program
  • A professional designation (MD, RN, KHS Training, Physiotherapist, Police, Fireman, etc)

From the above, please note that CPR (as a stand-alone certification) is NOT an equivalency.  There can also only be ONE trainer listed per team.

The Canadian Lacrosse Association and Coaching Association of Canada have worked together to develop a Coaching Certification Pathway that is specific to the sport of Lacrosse.
